Figheldean Parish Council currently have two vacancies for Councillors to join our dedicated and supportive team.
Specific responsibilities can be agreed upon appointment and take into account the successful candidates skill set.
No previous experience or political preference necessary, just a love for the parish and ability to project manage whilst liaising with outside agencies.
Council meetings are held in the evening, once every two months. Daytime availability would be an added benefit, but is not essential.
This is a voluntary role.

Eligibility criteria to be a Parish Councillor:
·Must be over 18 years old;
·British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth Citizen, European Citizen.
And at least ONE of the following:
·Registered elector for parish area;
·Occupied as owner or tenant on any land premises in the parish area for the last 12 months;
·Principal place of work (including unpaid) during last 12 months in the parish area;
·Lived in the parish council area during the last 12 months or within 3 miles (4.8km) of it.
These vacancies will be filled by co-option, a simple and open process for eligible residents. You don’t need political experience, just a genuine interest in your community.

Being a Parish Councillor is a rewarding and varied role. You’ll:
- Represent the views of residents across all age groups and backgrounds.
- Help shape local projects; from playgrounds and footpaths to community events and planning applications.
- Work with Wiltshire Council, local businesses, youth groups, and other organisations.
- Influence decisions that affect families, older residents, and future generations.
You don’t need formal qualifications just a willingness to listen, collaborate, and make a difference. Training and support are provided.
